2400 square foot Venue with Bunkhouse featuring a large gathering space, 2 themed bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, spacious kitchen, one of a kind serving bar, and an outdoor picnic area
The event space will accommodate 65 guests seated.
We carried over the same rustic charm when designing the Venue. Gorgeous dark stained floors run throughout bringing out the beauty of the space. A mixture of vintage bricks and various tones of barn wood were used to create aesthetic of the walls. The tin ceiling is picture worthy and you have to check out the vintage car décor in the handicap accessible bathroom. The LED lighting really brightens up the space and the floors are equipped with ample electrical outlets which is popular among our crafting guests.
We provide flat screen televisions and a remote controlled projector screen. A quaint area off to the side has comfy seating, cowhide rug, and vintage iron stove decor. The kids (and adults too) will have fun counting all the adorable critters hidden throughout the venue. Challenge your buddy to a game of Foosball arcade style with lights and sounds or show off your card skills at the poker table. Hi Ho Silver will be playing over and over while the lil kids giddy up and ride the vintage coin operated horse.
Cook up a homemade meal in the spacious kitchen complete with oven & stove top, fridge with ice maker and freezer, microwave, dishwasher, and cooking essentials. Whether you are serving up a special meal or kicking back with friends enjoying your favorite beverage, the bar top serving area named “Jack’s Mule Barn” by our grandkids is sure to be a popular spot.
Cozy up for the night in one of the two themed bedrooms which sleep up to 8 guests. Each bedroom in our bunkhouse has four twin sized beds with climate control and luxurious linens to keep you comfortable, plus there own private bathroom with huge walk in glass showers and stylish vessel sinks sit atop vintage dressers. Our individual Cabins can be added to your reservation for additional sleeping accommodations.
During your stay, enjoy complimentary Netflix and Wi-Fi or unplug and take in the beauty of the nearby Wichita Mountains from the covered front porch. The outdoor picnic area is the perfect spot to grill up some hamburgers and then for a late night treat enjoy yummy s'mores from the fire pit while stargazing from the back of a vintage flatbed truck just a short walk from the venue.
In 2019, The Lazy Buffalo opened with 5 vacation rental cabins and in July 2022 a new addition with 3 more Cabins was opened followed by another 3 Cabins in March 2023. At the end of 2023, our first set of pet friendly cabins were opened. Each of our cabins are uniquely themed to capture essence of the Wichita Mountains and the history of our hometown.
The Lazy Buffalo Venue with bunkhouse opened in July 2021. We carried over the same western vibe when designing the 2400 square foot space complete with kitchen and large gathering area. Conveniently connected by sidewalks, its just a short stroll between the Venue with bunkhouse, our Cabins, and 24 hour guest laundry. Altogether, The Lazy Buffalo can accommodate 49 guests among the 13 cabins and bunkhouse.
Both the cabins and venue have outdoor areas with picnic tables, charcoal grills, old fashion games, and recreational activities such as volleyball, corn-hole, and disc golf. This is sure to be the gathering spot after a fun day of hiking. Enjoying marshmallow goodness around the fire pit is a great way to cap off the evening. Guests are loving our vintage flatbed truck where we have added lounge chairs on top for kicking back and star gazing. Don't forget to take a photo at one of our themed photo props.
Offering both one day and multi-day reservations, we would love to host your special occasion or Family Reunion.

Located just three miles from the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge entrance, the Venue at The Lazy Buffalo captures that rural feel. A paved bike lane joins the property and runs throughout the Wildlife Refuge. At less than a mile from the original Quanah Parker’s Star House and minutes from Lawton Fort Sill and historic Medicine Park, there's plenty to see and do nearby.
We got to host the cutest Family that documents their travel adventures on YouTube. Here is a video they shared from their stay with us. Subscribe to @thestegmonsters for more fun content from the Wichita Mountains, Medicine Park, and other cool places they have visited.
We have lived in Southwest Oklahoma for over 60 years. Our area is rich with History and offers endless things to discover. The Wichita Mountains are right in our backyard and we get to enjoy their beauty everyday. We love it here and hope you choose The Lazy Buffalo for your next special occasion. ~ Larry & Julie
